Writer Interview- @CalebLTaylor1

Professional questions:

1. Tell me about you and your work!
I am currently writing a Fantasy Western, though I’ve yet to decide where it’ll land- seems to be suited for a comic. I’ve been writing/creating for most of my life, but only seven years ago did I decide to truly write a full novel. Which led into creating a twitter, then meeting a slew of great people and being published in an anthology via ASAP COMICS UK (Perspectives). I’m hoping to expand my universe within the ASAP COMICS UK realm. Wanting to have all forms of creation to represent different stories- from comic to novel to even film.

2. What do you enjoy most about your work?
A mixture of things. The creating something is fun. Connecting dots to facilitate a conclusion, or having a destination slowly unravel and seeing the audience’s response is fulfilling. Putting together a storyline, then allowing it to grow, retrospectively viewing the work, seeing the intent move its purpose, just neat.

3. How have you gained an audience over time?
Putting the work out there and making connections with other writers/readers. I can’t account to a proper audience but just making myself available.

4. How do you work? Silence or music? Do you work alongside a hot drink and a handful of snacks?
Sporadic and incoherent. 90% of the time. The other ten is music and hyper-fixation. I don’t have a particular snack to go to, nor drink, or even music. I select those as the mood suggests, can’t be jamming ‘I’m Gonna Crawl’ by Led Zed and be writing a diplomatic scene of unity, or Strapping Young Lad’s ‘Detox’ and writing the incidental meeting scene of a meet cute.

5. Link any of your socials and your work for others to check out!
@CalebLTaylor1 is my twitter.

Fun questions:

1. What’s your favourite season and why?
I don’t have a particular favorite season, but I do prefer the cold over heat. I tend to run hot, so hot temperatures aren’t for me. Plus I live in a humid area, so the sweat is a part of your attire.

2. If you could have any mythical creature as a pet, what would it be?
A winged Enfield! I’ve always liked foxes, so naturally a chimera with a fox face would be my choice!

3. Would you rather have your own boat/ship or your own aeroplane?
I’d select a helicopter, just seems the simplest to use! But I guess that’d be closer to a plane, so a plane.

4. What are your current favourite shows?
MacGruber. Just rewatched The Haunting of Hill House. The Witcher, Midnight Mass. I need to finish You. Waiting on a few to come out, but I also have a few I intend on watching, just haven’t had the chance.

5. What’s your thoughts and feelings on vampires!?
Sheesh, well, hmm. I think they can be a good emissary for representing mental health. A person stricken with an illness that can manipulate their perception of reality, separating them from the general public, isolating them to their troubled mind. OUTSIDE OF THAT ANALYSIS- I’d say they are fun to experience due to the multifaceted nature they represent. Basically superhero/villain before they were a ‘thing’. Most have a rough upbringing, origin story. They typically share a since of control, not necessarily as far as eating habits, but just their physical ways. They possess extreme abilities, but don’t rule the world (in most cases) with an iron fist.
